Low back pain, many times is a direct result of low back (lumbar) and/or pelvic misalignments (subluxations). The majority of people have a lumbar spine which is made up of 5 bones (vertebrae) and the shock absorbers (discs) in between each vertebrae, The pelvis is made up of 2 hip bones (ilium), a triangular bone located at the base of the spine below the final vertebrae (sacrum), and the tail bone (coccyx). The sacrum is attached to both ilium with joints called the sacro-iliac joints or sometimes referred to as the SI joints. Sometime people mistakenly refer to these joints as hips and state they are having hip pain. These joints are located on the right and left side of the low back above the buttocks.
Most of us are born with a normally aligned spine and pelvis. Injuries can easily affect their alignment. Some of the more common injuries seen are trauma related to falling, auto accidents and sports injuries. Any of these traumas and many more can cause lumbar and pelvic misalignments. (subluxations). These misalignments (subluxations) can produce symptoms of low back pain.
Gentle and effective chiropractic spinal adjustments can offer fast and effective results.
