To find out why your back hurts, chiropractic evaluation will try to determine the source of your back problem. This evaluation includes a health history and physical exam. It may also include tests such as x-rays. If needed, your chiropractor may consult or manage your care with other healthcare providers.
HEALTH HISTORY
You’ll be asked about your symptoms, previous injuries or treatments, and whether you have other health problems. You’ll also be asked about your lifestyle. Be ready to answer questions on chiropractic evaluation such as:
- Where is your pain? How and when did it first start?
- How intense is your pain(mild, moderate, or severe)?
- What activities do you do for work and during your free time?
OTHER TESTS
Other tests, such as an x-ray or MRI scan, may be done to learn more about your back problem. These show pictures of your spine and can help rule out other health problems. Your chiropractor will let you know if any tests are needed.
PHYSICAL EXAM
Your chiropractor will examine you and check for areas of pain, stiffness, soreness, and limited movement. This usually involves feeling your back or spine as you move and hold certain positions. Your posture, muscle strength, flexibility, and reflexes are also checked. And your blood pressure or pulse may be taken.
